Making an appointment

A current referral from your GP or specialist is required to see Dr Tarr. It is also what makes you eligible for a Medicare rebate on your consultation and treatment.

To book, please call reception or send an enquiry. Dr Tarr consults in Brisbane and Ipswich; your location is confirmed when your appointment is made.

What to bring

• Your current referral (if not already sent via Medical-Objects, fax or email)
• Your completed health questionnaire
• A list of your current medications, names, doses and how often (or bring the packaging)
• Your Medicare card, and private health insurance or pension/concession card
• Any recent imaging and reports, X-rays, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and relevant blood tests

Costs you can predict

There is a small out-of-pocket cost for your initial consultation, and a Medicare rebate applies with a valid referral. For many conditions, treatment and follow-up are then provided with no gap on Dr Tarr's fee for privately insured patients, though some hospital or anaesthetic costs may apply.

All fees are disclosed to you in writing before anything is booked, informed financial consent, every time. Uninsured and self-funded patients receive a written quote up front.

Current consultation fees, Medicare rebates and any item numbers are confirmed when you book and at your appointment.

Health funds & hospital costs

• A referral is required for Medicare rebates and private health fund eligibility
• Private hospital admission for a procedure requires appropriate private health cover
• Item numbers can be provided so you can check your level of cover and any hospital excess with your fund
• Additional costs may apply if an anaesthetist, or radiology, pathology or pharmacy services, are needed during your stay
• Medicare rebates still apply to consultations even without private cover
